The replacement filter can be washed and, if dried properly, reused. Changing shop vac filters often is strongly recommended to increase the vac's performance and to help extend vacuum life as it protects the motor from harmful dust and debris. This product offers one 1-layer standard filter that fits all RIDGID wet/dry shop vacs 5 Gal. and larger and should only be used for dry pickup. RIDGID provides other filtration offerings, including VF5000 Fine Dust Filter (sold separately), VF6000 HEPA Media Filter (sold separately) and VF7000 Wet Filter (sold separately), depending on the job application and type of cleanup mess.
